In line with the celebration of the 56th Fish Conservation Week, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) gave recognition to outstanding coastal communities in Caraga region through the Bureau’s Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) banner program.
The winners of the MMK search in Caraga were the municipalities of Cagwait in Surigao del Sur, which received P2M worth of livelihood projects, and Del Carmen in Surigao del Norte, which received P1M worth of livelihood projects, as first and second placer, respectively.
Taking the higher notch, the municipality of Cagwait will represent Caraga in the fourth season of the national MMK Search for Outstanding Coastal Community.
The awarding ceremony was held during the culmination program of the weeklong celebration last Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City.
